“Oh my God!!! She is an Upian” That is what “some” people will say if they will see me with a University of the Philippines uniform and even a University of the Philippines t-shirt. Sometime they’re expression will be like this, “Ah, kuyawa UP man”. They are always telling it because they do not know our real traits. They just know that Upians are the independent type of person, the sporty people and the most of all the “intelligent” people. They just give us good comment without knowing the negative ones. Some Upians possess negative traits, even the one who is writing this post. All of us!!! You may not know that the Upians are murderers, rapists and criminals. But that will never happen. As a Upian, I know some negative traits that my schoolmates, my classmates, my friends and even me possess.
Upians are sometimes “bossy”. There are times when people give orders to other people. They feel like they are the only leaders of the group. Some became leaders but aren’t capable becoming a leader. He/She was been a leader because of his/her popularity and an intelligent mind. They do not have the capability of being leaders. But still they are ordering and reminding people like they are true leaders even if they are not.
Some Upians are “plastic”, in what we call in our dialect. Even me I can say, I am “plastic” sometimes but only on times when I need to do that. While some people are the “plastic” always people. They befriend each other but when they are not together, they are backbiting each other. That is one of the bad traits Upians even me posses.
You may not know that some students of our school is the “Papansin” type of person. Some of us, especially girls (but I am not included, huh?), sometimes go to boy hunting even if they are not capable of doing so because they have the beauty and charm to boys to follow them and not them to follow. Hahay!!! That is life now. Girls are the one who are following boys. Not like the older culture when our grandparents still possess the “Maria Clara” type of girl. Now, in our days, some girls are the one who are following boys and also now the boys are waiting even if girls are in there place.
Some also students are the “Arte” type of person. Even if it was just a small thing, they made it bigger by using bad intonations like “Yucks” and “Iww”. Well only some do that but sometimes we became really, really annoyed about them.
If you knew that only in Plaza Independencia or other public places only have the “PDA” type of person, you are absolutely wrong. Well, not always you can see them doing the PDA things. But even if they are doing that they are still having good grades and participating to school activities.
Well!!! Here is where my essay will end. I am thinking right now, if some people are reading this and they possess these negative traits, well that is up to them. There is a saying that says, “Bato bato sa Langit, Tamaan wag magagalit.” Okay?! Well!!! Even if Upians, just like I said a while ago, possess negative traits, they also possess even more positive traits like being an independent person, an active person, a sporty person and most of all an intelligent person. That is a Upian is!!!
